It’s still me, but with a new look, new posts, better focus and a shop to go along with my ramblings. Since deciding to be a stay at home mom my husband and I decided that this would be a way that I could help out with our savings/insurance (did I mention that I had a brain tumor and with that comes a lovely premium =) Hey, I can’t complain. It’s better than not being here!!!

I’ve been MIA from blogging. Focusing on my family and our health. I cannot wait until spring. Seriously. Michigan winters are getting old with 2 little ones. My husband closed one store and they’re moving the other store to a better location. Crazy. Busy. Times.

Something to think about….

I have a confession to make….I’m a worrier. I really wasn’t much of one before I had kids. Now, it’s full-blown worrying.

What if something happens to me when I’m alone with the kids! How do I know that my husband’s business is going to be ok in this economy. What if this fever in my toddler is something more. Do we have enough in our savings account? What if my brain tumor comes back? Is that why I’m getting headaches again? Did my eyes just cross again?! (Watch my story here)

These anxious thoughts can take over my most precious moments with my kids and family. Why?

I struggle with letting go of things and realizing that I’m not in control. God is. I need to just trust in Him.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” - Philippians 4:8

The verse doesn’t say ‘whatever is false, whatever is wrong, whatever is evil and scary and full of anxiety, think about such things’ ~ sounds crazy, huh!? If I admit (and some of you too!) this is really what can happen on a daily basis.

So, let’s work on: 2 Corinithians 10:5

⁵ I destroy every claim and every reason that keeps people from knowing God. I keep every thought under control in order to make it obey Christ.

If I don’t start every day with God, laying my worries, anxiety, frustrations at His feet, it’s a day that can unwind into chaos in my mind. I also find that journaling – writing things down – helps me to sort through my thoughts. It sounds silly when you write them down sometimes.

Mommy Meals

A friend of mine is expecting her second girl this March. Aside from sewing a blanket from my hoarded Amy Butler “Love” stash, I wanted to help organize meals. A lovely friend of mine did that for me when I was expecting my son this summer and it was brilliant!

Mealtrain.

It’s a way for you to organize and help friends sign up for meals (new parents, surgery, etc.). There’s a calendar, easy ways to get the word out and it’s FREE!

My friend can login and see who is bringing what. I just set it up last night with the following notes that people see when they go to sign up:

Organizer:

(my name and email)

Recipient:

(Mommy’s name and email)

Drop off meals here:

address & a link to a map!

Preferred drop off time:

4:30 – 6:00 pm

Special instructions:

Drop off the meal in the “magic cooler” left at the front door. If the cooler’s not there, that means that they’re up for you to say hi for 5 minutes! If it’s there it may mean that baby is needing some extra attention and they can’t make it to the door. Please mark any dishes with your name or use foil to avoid confusion – you know “mommy brain” =)If you’d like to drop off a freezer meal ahead of time, please sign up for a date and then just drop it off earlier than that date. That way we know how many meals are coming! If you’re having issues signing up online, email (me) your name, phone, dinner and the date you’d like. I’ll sign you up.

Love it! My friend is happy and now we’re just waiting for baby girl to enter the world!

So my obsession with Farbenmix (and patterns) has become worse since early this morning when my 5 mo. old decided that it’s too cold to sleep (aside from the million sleep sacks and throwing the heat up to an unknown degree in our house). Did I mention I live in Michigan and it’s COLD in January? Not Canada cold, eh!? But, cold none-the-less. Knew we should’ve skipped that vacation and threw more insulation in the walls. I.digress.quickly.

Farbenmix. European crafting trends. Sew Mama sew did an interview yesterday which got me thinking (drooling) again. It’s a bit more expensive to get things so I try not to tempt myself. Being content in all circumstances, right!? I mean, really, check out this adorable stuff on etsy. The trims, fabrics, ribbons, all adorable. I purchased some ribbons awhile back and hoarded them. Lost them. Pulled my hair out. Cried. Ordered more (with hubby’s permission). Smiled. Found old stash. Smiled even more. =)

Now, if only that would work for every favorite item I have and don’t want to cut into!
