I <3 Farbenmix

21 Jan

Image from Sew Mama Sew Blog - click photo to read the article!

So my obsession with Farbenmix (and patterns) has become worse since early this morning when my 5 mo. old decided that it’s too cold to sleep (aside from the million sleep sacks and throwing the heat up to an unknown degree in our house).  Did I mention I live in Michigan and it’s COLD in January?  Not Canada cold, eh!?  But, cold none-the-less.  Knew we should’ve skipped that vacation and threw more insulation in the walls.  I.digress.quickly.

Farbenmix.  European crafting trends.  Sew Mama sew did an interview yesterday which got me thinking (drooling) again.  It’s a bit more expensive to get things so I try not to tempt myself.  Being content in all circumstances, right!?  I mean, really, check out this adorable stuff on etsy.  The trims, fabrics, ribbons, all adorable.  I purchased some ribbons awhile back and hoarded them.  Lost them.  Pulled my hair out.  Cried.  Ordered more (with hubby’s permission).  Smiled.  Found old stash.  Smiled even more.  =)

Now, if only that would work for every favorite item I have and don’t want to cut into!

Look at this site from Germany.  Pink.  Blue.  Green.  Matroshka.  Birds.  Hearts.  Teal.  Be still my heart.  Love the bands too.  Can I just have these images flashing on my digital photo frame please?

What’s your style?  Obsession?

Did you see that the new color trend of the year is Honeysuckle (pink!)

I’m so excited, afterall, pink is my signature color!

Baby Quilt

4 Dec

I made this car seat quilt for a friend that’s having a baby girl this February. I sent along some leg warmers and a burp cloth made with some LOVEly Amy Butler that coordinates with the quilt. Love this line and and love even more Amy’s new fabric line out right now! Drooling and trying to hold myself back from ordering even just 1 yard!

I call this a car seat quilt because it’s between a mini quilt and a regular size baby quilt. I like having something small that doesn’t drag on the ground when I’m dragging my kids around, so I thought she’d like the same.
Looking at it now I wish I would’ve chosen a different binding. Maybe a blue or a green so the backside isn’t pink and purple. BUT the blanket is for a baby girl, so I’m sure as she grows she’ll love those colors!  I was practicing the stack and slash method as well as the curves.

Snow & Fever & Christmas Craftiness = Craziness!

2 Dec

No, I’m not talking about Snow Fever (which my husband has every year – his favorite season is winter – but that’s another post!)  I’m talking about a toddler who was up all night with a fever AND it’s freezing cold outside!  Poor thing’s now sitting in the living room watching The Polar Express in 3-D without the glasses.  Yes, I know, it’s pathetic.  The other version is somewhere to be found on another day.

Well, I’ve been compiling a short list for Christmas ideas this year.  You can find it at the top of my blog under links to other ideas.  You have to click the second page option that shows up below. I have lists of lists.

Even.  More.  Pathetic.

Ask me how many things I’ve made for Christmas this year!  Not too many.  Oh well, Christmas isn’t about the gifts anyway.  I’ve had to purchase things from the stores, but have gotten some good deals.  I digress.

Hopefully if you’re reading this you’ve found the time to make some Christmas presents from the heart.  Check out these awesome blog tutes from the page above.

Happy December 2!  Back to Kleenex and poopy diapers x 2!

So, I’m leaving you on a happier note of a healthier day!

Sea Views Quilt – Progress

20 Nov

Well, tonight I worked a bit more on the sea views quilt.

I have pieced together half of the squares tonight.

I also patched my favorite pair of jeans – for my daughter of course!  The first day she wore them she ripped a hole in them.  I love her!

Quilted kitchen set

19 Nov

So, I decided to share my Christmas presents on here, since my Mom doesn’t check this blog.  (I hope she doesn’t start now!)

I made an oven mitt and 2 pot holders.  1 pot holder I made for casserole dishes.  I always think it’s goofy that we need to use multiple holders for 1 dish.

I think I may make this too!
